Paavo Nurmi is considered the greatest runner of all time. He was known as ”The King of Runners” or the ”Flying Finn”. Paavo Nurmi Festival focuses on establishing permanent and visible activities honouring the great runner, in order to ensure that he Paavo Nurmi Legacy is passed down to future generations.

The first Paavo Nurmi Games was arranged in 1957 as a birthday present to Nurmi on his 60th birthday. The tradition has gone on ever since and the event is held every year at the Paavo Nurmi Stadium named after the legendary runner. In recent years PNG has been broadcasted to over hundred countries abroad. In Finland it was the most watched television broadcast of the week in 2018 with a reach of 1 335 000 viewers. At the stadium there were over 12.000 spectators enjoying the atmosphere.

Furthermore, other Paavo Nurmi Festival events in celebration of Nurmi’s achievements, such as Paavo Nurmi Junior & Master Games, Paavo’s Sports Day and Paavo Nurmi Marathon, will be held throughout the festival weeks. Paavo’s Sports Day has over 10.000 children with their families taking part in the sports festival. Paavo Nurmi Marathon is one of the biggest running events in Finland, one can choose a distance of marathon, halfmarathon or 10K. Children have also the possibility to take part in Paavo Nurmi Minimarathon.

Turku City Theatre

Turku City Theatre is an active and ambitious theatre that produces five to ten premiers every year, plus several visiting spectacles. Altogether the theatre houses approximately 400 shows and over 100 000 viewers per year. Turku City Theatre stages everything from plays to musicals and from drama to comedy.

Turku City Theatre was founded in 1946. Since the year 2014, it has been operating as a corporation owned 100% by the city of Turku. The theatre is run by Art Director Mikko Kouki and CEO Arto Valkama.

The theatre building boasts a beautiful location by the River Aura in the middle of the Turku city centre. The building represents modern 60’s architecture and is under total renovation until September 2017. There are three stages, a restaurant and a cafe in the building. During the summer season, the theatre operates in Emma Theatre’s outdoor scene in Naantali.

In the autumn of 2017, Turku City Theatre will show the Broadway musical, the Last Ship. A newly renovated theatre building, music composed by Sting and a strong shipyard theme are excellent reasons to experience this play!

30 Years of Entrepreneur Stories
The Varsinais-Suomen Yrittäjä newspaper of the Federation of Finnish Enterprises in Southwest Finland first appeared in 1987 under the name “Yritysidea” (“business idea”). Now, 30 years later, we are distributing the printed version of the paper addressed to all business establishments in the region. The printed newspaper has 80,000 readers. The newspaper’s website also has over 90,000 visitors a month. We send out a newsletter a few times a week to 26,000 email addresses.

Although the world is changing and we are developing our entrepreneur media along with it, content which is of interest to the readers is the basis upon which the newspaper is created. Right from the beginning, it has been the goal of the newspaper to convey information which is useful to entrepreneurs and businesses. Articles written by the experts and interviews with them continue to be the most read content of the paper.

We act as a lobbyist, raising important issues if necessary. We don’t complain about problems, we offer the enterprise organisation’s suggestions as solutions to them.

Finnish Mobimar Ltd. is a boatyard and engineering company specialised in workboat and submarine design and building. In addition Mobimar is designing and accomplishing high demanding modular cruise ship systems.

Mobimar supplies cost-effective and reliable high quality vessels, individually suited to a range of applications like research, rescue, fairway service, oil recovery and crew transfer. In 2012, we delivered the first, eagerly awaited trimaran crew transfer vessel for offshore wind farms. Many of our innovative products are unique and protected by a patent. We are designing the products by ourselves. If the new constructions require more FEM-calculations or model testing we are often performing them together with VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland. Later in production the majority of products are in such dimensions that they can be built and lifted inside our 5000 m2 facilities. There the “Mobimax” size for the constructions is 13 meters in width and 50 meters in length. Additionally the overhead crane capacity is up to 50 tons.

Environmental reports
Before the start of the excavation work it’s recommended to carry out the environmental analysis, which helps preventing the costly damages.

The environmental analysis report includes the estimation of possible damages caused by the vibration, dust and noise inside the 0-1500-meter (depends on the scale of blasting and the environment) radius from the blasting site across the real estate constructions and devices. The analysis also includes what kind of preventing actions are needed.

The environmental analysis determines the need of the pre-and post-blast inspections, need for vibration damping of sensitive apparatus or machines, giving safety instructions, determining maximum levels for vibration and how/where to measure vibrations.

Living and working near to the blasting or pile-driving site will continue almost normally because of the rules and instructions given in the environmental analysis.

Choosing the blasting or pile-driving contractor, cost estimation and scheduling the site will improve a lot.

Blasting or pile-driving near to the sensitive buildings, or precision apparatus/machine work done near to the site will be safer and much better organized.

Pre- and post-blast inspections
Property inspections acts as your evidence and legal protection if the blasting, pile-driving or vibration work rises doubts about possible changes in the surrounding buildings.

With professional inspections, it is possible to prevent the conflicts about the damages in the buildings near to the blasting or pile-driving site.

Property inspection is a three-step process in which the propertys and their structures will be reviewed before the blasting work starts, the results are recorded and then after the blasting project is completed the buildings will be rechecked and possible changes recorded.

After that each blasting site engineers and supervisors can view the results using our BlastView® system via internet by computer, tablet or smart phone (internet browser is used – no need to install any new specific software). BlastView® system can also be used as design tool to optimize the blasting.

Efficient vibration damping is used to decrease the g-forces directed on sensitive devices, as computers, up to 90%. This means that blasting operations in demanding environments can be done by a cost-effective manner.

Blasting site supervising
Site supervising reduces the total project costs, helps keeping the schedule and do a good quality job.

Camilla Safety offers hands-on courses in:

All our instructors are professionals: paramedics or licensed nurses with experience in Emergency First Aid and First Response, fire fighters and police trained. We are also accepted by the Finnish Red Cross to function as official First Aid Instructors.

Did you know that the Finnish law (Occupational Safety and Health Act) states that every employer shall see to that there is First Aid trained personnel and adequate First Aid equipment available on site.

Our First Aid courses fulfill the criteria stated by the Occupational Safety and Health Act and Finnish standard SFS 6002 (needed in electrical work). We also have courses accepted by Finnish Transport Safety Agency (Trafi, Liikenteen turvallisuusvirasto).

Courses (short and long) are held in English, Finnish or Swedish. Courses can be held either in our facility in Piispanristi (10 km from Turku) or in the customer’s office.

Aerial platforms
Our units are always purhaced directly from the manufacturer and they represent the latest in technology and safety. This also ensures the reliability and availability of our units in changing and difficult circumstances.

We pay special attention to add-on equipment on our units. In co-operation with the manufacturer, we also develop additional add-on equipment. These new inventions are often based on the feedback from our customers. For example, most of our units are equipped with electric use, which enables indoor operation.

Our fleet is constantly rotating, so that mean age of our units is always the youngest in the market.

Working cage
Wide working cage – turning sector ~ 180 degrees. The working cage can be extended up to 3,9 meters. The maximum working cage load is 600 kg.

Electricity (230V/400V), water and air (max. 200 bar) are also available in the working cage. The electricity can be produced by the machines own 6,5 kW generator.

The working cage is also equipped with working light and radio. The control unit can be freely positioned anywhere in the working cage to achieve optimum space to work.

Driver
The driver operates the machine and assists the customer with the task. If needed, the driver can operate the machine also from the lower control center. In that case there is an intercom connection between the lower control center and the work cage.

Electronic reach control system
The machine can be stabilized according to the operating space and reach range, so the stabilizers do not take up space unnecessarily, e.g., in narrow places such as sidewalks.

Electric use
Most of the machines can also be driven with electricity only, to avoid noise and exhaust gases. For this reason machines can safely and silently be used indoors.

With no-cost we will come to inspect your working site in forehand to help to choose the most suitable unit from our fleet in order to complete your task effectively and safely.

YardMate offers a full scale of Human Resources services. The strength of the service model is in its members that are specialized in different fields of providing and evaluating people. By combining the expertise of the HR professionals with our technical knowledge of the work tasks we can provide the best possible employee to each job assignment.

Our business model serves customer very flexibly. The resourcing can be met by delivering different professionals and workers depending the customers current needs. The model can be either

Our personnel evaluation methods combine yard and shipping knowledge to cognitive and psychological testing. Kari Härkönen

The founder of MindFit Consulting, Kari Härkönen, has worked for technology and financial fields for over 20 years starting from development and moving on to management and business development. For the past over 10 years he has been a full time personnel analyst and headhunter for the industry. He graduated in 1992 as electric technician. After computer studies he started working for Ericsson as a software developer, specializing in Graphical User Interfaces and Usability Issues.

At Ericsson Kari noticed that inspiring people was more of his area of interest than the technology itself and he moved on to work as a project manager while continuing to have the main focus on projects related to User Interface design. He also worked with recruitment interviewing new job candidates.

From Ericsson Kari moved to mobile application business in 1999. He also worked as an independent ‘Day Trader’ using on-line stock trading services. Kari felt on-line trading applications quite interesting and they inspired him to develop new ideas for the field. These insights lead him to work as a development manager of Helsinki Stock Exchange (HEX), starting at early 2001. At HEX he was responsible for on-line trading systems, user interface development, project management, product management, account management and business development in general.

As a life-time learner and enthusiast research & development minded person Kari studied psychology and cognitive science beside the work with stock markets. Kari created concept for evaluating professionals in 2003. The personnel evaluation service was ready to be launched at the end of 2003 as MindFit Consulting Ltd. From the beginning of 2004 Kari has worked full time with personnel evaluation and headhunting. Currently he is preparing doctoral thesis related to personnel evaluation and its methods development.

Sissel Sundström

Sissel is studying economics and business administration in Turku School of Economics, and is graduating in 2017. She’s working as a HR-assistant and headhunter at Mindfit Consulting. Sissel is passionate about the fields of Talent Management and Acquisition, Learning & Development and HR overall. She has both studied and worked abroad and enjoys international working environment. Along with her business studies, Sissel is taking psychology courses and is especially interested in behavioral economics.
